There is a vet in Detroit, actually closer to Redford, that neuters Sugar Gliders. I will get his name for you. I bet he'd do a FS. We call him Dr G, I just don't know his real name and clinic. But will shortly. Here is the link-- http://www.cantoncenteranimalhospital.com/ It is Andrew M. Grzanowski...

That is kind of what I thought. I don't know how many gliders have ever had it before, but only 2 that I know of that presented like Cooper has, and it's a lot of work, very expensive and really hard on my sleeping! LOL I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't getting something that is prone to them, ...

Staph

Okay, this might be kind of a useless question, but...I have a glider that is dealing with a severe staph infection, who knows where he got it. But do flyers ever get it? I know it's possible, but how common is it?

You know, I've thought quite a bit about those lights for the suggies, their room is converted from the garage. No windows (apparantly it wouldn't matter anyway) I do leave a regular light on for them so they do have some semblance of normal day/night. What are your thoughts on using the UVB lights ...

So, I can go hog wild in the cage with branches and stuff? I'll start saving acorns, thanks for the tip.

LOL, I know I'm gonna drive y'all crazy for a while with the flyer/glider thing, I know I am. I feel like I know quite a bit about my gliders, and want to have some knowledge base for flyers before I get excited about getting one or two or three :D So, what is MBD? What causes it, and how do you fix...

Health concerns

Are there special health concerns with flyers? Are they as delicate as gliders, or are they fairly hardy? When I ask this, gliders don't show their illnesses, and by the time we realize there is a problem the glider is usually close to dead. With flyers being smaller than gliders, my biggest concern...

Is there a concern about aflatoxin poisoning with these guys? Because a lot of their diet consists of items I have removed from my home after losing several gliders to aflatoxins.

Weaned?

How old is a flyer when its considered weaned? And I saw a couple of posts about getting them early and hand feeding for tameness, isn't that kind of...wrong? I'm not trying to start trouble, I am just trying to understand.

Okay, I know NOTHING about flyers, but do have experience with rescue gliders. A home where they feel safe is number one priority. Of course he HAS to get used to you. But keep making changes to his house, until he feels safe. I don't know how you would go about bonding with a flyer, but I wish you ...

So, what do they eat?

I know kind of a dumb question. But, I've read this entire page, and I'm not sure what a plate of squirrel food should look like. It sounds kind of like whatever they want (within reason). How much food should they consume in a day? Do they even need protien? The suggies get chicken every night, sho...

Do you have to use bedding?

I don't use anything in the cage pans for my gliders, and I'm wondering if I have to for a flyer? I am gaining the understanding that they need stuff to put in their nest boxes, but that is something different, right?

Also, would they sleep in a pouch, or is the box the best?
