Re: Hold the presses... Angus has a girlfriend!!!

I forgot to add that my boy made me proud! He has a real eye for the girls and his little sweetheart made Vivian Leigh and all the rest of the "Southern Belles" from Tara look like two-week old cold oatmeal. After Angus's episode with the rat snake I have decided to make the nesting boxes ...

Hold the presses... Angus has a girlfriend!!!

Angus just made my day! Some of you may recall my "lament" when I belatedly posted the news that my little buddy Angus had chosen freedom over his life of luxury. I have agonized for many hours during the uncommonly cold weather (for our part of the country)... wondering if Angus was warm,...

Re: Our little JET arrived today!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your new addition will undoubtedly prove to be an even greater blessing as you watch the unfolding of a personality as unique and precious as anything you could imagine! I am always amazed at the ability of God's small crea...

Re: Update on Angus...

I actually started this to say "thank you" to the folks here who provided advice and encouragement when Angus was injured... started recalling things and couldn't see to type any longer! This is the belated thank you. There are a lot of really knowledgeable, compassionate people who partic...

Update on Angus...

It has been a while since I last visited the forum and I just wanted to "close the loop" on Angus - my little buddy who was injured when a black rat snake tried to make a quick lunch out of him. After a couple of trips to the vet we were glad to learn that he wouldn't lose the (right-rear)...

Re: Broken ankle on flying squirrel.

Just returned from the vet with Angus and the vet doesn't think amputation is called for at this point. There is still circulation in the foot and the swelling isn't extreme. Angus fussed at the vet while he was checking the foot but he was still and didn't try to bite him... he was a big hit with e...

Re: Broken ankle on flying squirrel.

Thanks Joan... as long as he makes it I'll feel blessed. Our vet said I probably would have to cancel his release plans but that doesn't matter, all of my rescues have left on their own terms and this one has been so special that he has a home regardless! His two big sisters - Australian Shepherd wh...

Re: Broken ankle on flying squirrel.

Our vet thinks he will lose the foot because the bone is literally crushed from the snake hanging on while Angus thrashed about. All I can do is try to keep him as quiet as possible and pray. He was really great for the vet and everyone on his staff fell in love with him but with this little guy not...

Re: Broken ankle on flying squirrel.

Kept Angus with me all night "in confinement" and he was perfectly calm. Drank lots of water and ate his favorite jogurt. When he isn't moving about, the limb seems to "assume" a normal position and I have taken my cues from him and allowed him to just sit and be stroked - which ...

Broken ankle on flying squirrel.

My 9 month old flying squirrel suffered a severely broken right hind ankle this afternoon when a black rat snake climbed a column on our porch, traversed a 1 inch wide ledge and got onto his cage. I finally got a veterinarian on the phone but he can't see him until tomorrow afternoon and isn't optim...

Re: Syringe Feeding

Thank you so much for your advice Joan. I have the smaller syringes on order but for now have to "make-do" with the other type (you are right they are extremely difficult to control - in part because of their tendency to draw-back when you release positive pressure). Angus opened his eyes ...

New Member - Thanks to you all!

I found you all yesterday - thank goodness - and am already indebted for the information found here. My "child" - Angus - was found ten days ago in some shrubbery beneath a pecan tree in our back yard. There were three, one already dead and a little female who died later and Angus. He stil...
