Re: End of life?

I am so sorry to hear your buddy is failing. From what you wrote about his change I would say that he has simply begun to show his age. He may have years ahead of him to be with you. I would suggest that you support him with extra calcium, my old fellows get a berry flavored children's Tums once a w...

Re: need medical advice

Please stop the vitamin D3 immediately!!!!! Vitamin D3 is a rodenticide, the major ingredient in rat killers. Supportive care is about all that can be done for him at this time, he may benefit from some Esbilac Puppy milk replacer for nutrients. Go to your local drugstore and ask for several one cc...

Re: bald spots

Don't take any of his fresh veggies away, the oily sunflower seeds can be given everyday, the the chicken wings and waxworms just given every three days or so. He needs those fresh veggies for the good vitamins and minerals they contain. Just feed very limited nuts and seeds. Also make use he is gett...

Re: bald spots

That's not molt, does look like some type of injury or a bite. I doesn't appear to be in a place that he can reach, wish the picture was clearer to see. He looks to be down to his undercoat in that one(side)area. I can't see if that's a scab in the center. Hoping I can come back with some help.

Re: Concerned about "freezing" behavior

I can understand how upsetting these episodes are to you. How does she do when caged? Any signs of seizure behavior? What is her protein and Calcium intake like on a weekly basis? I have seen and been getting so many calls lately that are dirt related, especially with older squirrels. If you are in ...

Have baby boys

I have two adorable little flyer boys on formula, they will be really very soon for new homes. I, personally think the boys make for better and more loving pets. The females seem to have "attitude" every once in awhile. If you are interested send me an email! :D

Re: broke back leg?

Your baby boy should be better with rest, brakes heal pretty fast and while he might now be unhappy-cage time for the next several weeks is best. Cage living will give that leg a chance to heal. As for added Calcium to help go to your local Walmart and pick up some yummy flavored children's Tums. Th...

I have never seen cotton seeds mentioned before, so I can't really answer your question. That being said, I don't think I would intentionally feed them.

Re: Overheating?

When gray squirrels do this, we call it pancaking. It's just a way they sometimes like to sleep or rest. I live just down the road from Joan here in Florida and am a state
licensed rehabilitater, so am familiar with both flyers and gray squirrels.
