Re: Looking for a New Baby!!

Good luck finding a buddy for Bella. I hope someone in your area has some hints for you. Thanks Joan! Lets just hope she doesn't have "only-child-syndrome" and gets along with her new buddy! I'm hoping they more than get along... I want them to make some babies, lol! I've attached a pic s...

Looking for a New Baby!!

Hi all. I've been a member here for over a year but due to a busy job and raising a flyer (which as you all know, can also be a full time job, lol), I wasn't able to post that often. Now I'm unemployed temporarily and will be posting much more often. And now that I'm not working at the moment, I can...

Question about Balance and Gliding

I have kind of a strange question. Is it normal for a flying squirrel to fall or "miss" objects they're trying to jump/glide to? I ask because I've noticed that sometimes my little Bella Rose, who is about a year old, will try to make a really long jump (like 6ft or so) and miss or slip of...

Re: Pics of Bella's New Room and Newly Rearranged Cage

THANKS Joan!! Those cages gave me so many ideas... I'm taking little things from each one to create an enclosure that fits Bella's needs. I have actually found a perfect enclosure that meets my standards and needs and have attached a picture of it for everyone to see and comment on. First, I want a ...

Re: Recieved baby and she is not eating

My flyer was shipped on Thursday, and we were there to pick her up that day. They couldn't find her. They accidentally left her on the plane. We got her the next morning. This is Delta airlines. Anyway, I was told that she was hand tamed. She has been terrified of us so far. Runs away from us. My m...

Pics of Bella's New Room and Newly Rearranged Cage

Hi Everyone. I wanted to get ya'll's opinions and suggestions on Bella's new room and newly configured cage. When I first got Bella, I had bought a cage made for a ferret to house her in. It had shelves and ramps that would be great for a ferret but not so good for a flyer. So I took all the shelves...

Re: My spoiled little Sandy

Thanks! I think all flyers have different personalities. Sandy was so comfortable with us. Jack will not sit still enough for anyone to touch him (I think he has taken on the personality of my husband!) and Daisy was a little bit in between. She loved to be rubbed, but it had to be on HER terms. :)...

Good Lord Slmero we definitely have to take your charge cards away! I think the seller's word "exotic" has become a fetish. LOL You can go to Joanne's Fabrics and by a 6'X6' sheet of cotton batting for what you're spending on that "exotic" stuff. Publix 100% cot...

So I was just wondering if bamboo nesting was ok, I know that cotton balls aren't because they can get wrapped around paws and the like so I was wondering if bamboo will do the same thing or if anyone has had experience with using it. Thanks! Doug I just picked up some of that Bamboo nesting materi...

I'm so glad you posted this. I wish this was on here before I bought my Sophocles. So how is Bella doing? Hi Joan! Bella is doing AWESOME!! Re: HELP!! flyer chewed through bonding pouch and is in hous

The Havahart may work. Move her cage near where you last saw her and just wait ... she will likely go to what she knows. You may have to wait until morning to see if she returned to the cage. Some of this may help: http://www.nfsa.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=6221 Hi Joan. She is actually in ...

Joan, you were so right about stripping the tent bare. I know Anita and her husband who make these cages. Notice the wiring. It lets the flyer crawl easily. It's not expensive and is great for a travel cage. They own both flyers and sugar gliders. Great!! It's big enough to hang a pouch in there right? Before I buy it, what about this last one. It's a little bigger and still has great bars for Bella to climb around on. And this one is definitely big enough to hang sleepy pouches. What do you think? Thanks so much Joan! http://martinscages.com...

BACKFLIPS!! Worry or Not...

So, Bella started doing backflips 2 nights ago and I don't know if I should be worried. I read that it can be very dangerous for them if it becomes a compulsive behavior. I also read that it might be a phase... Any suggestions? It's only her 6th day with us today and last night we did our first bath...

I think most bird seed mix is a waste of money as they go for bigger seeds. However, in the wild, they do eat what is put out for birds. I keep in-shell nuts available at all times. Most just get stashed.. I agree with this. Unfortunately, she was given parrot food with fresh oranges by the pet sto...

I know what you mean with how confusing it is to find what works for them...especially on The Squirrel Board. I think the best thing to do is find what works for you and your flyer. They need vegetables, fruit, water and protein. Protein is found in nuts too, not just mealworms. I don't feed Jack t...
