Re: Play Behavior aggressive at times and confusing

I don't know if this matters - he was originally found on the base of a cottonwood tree (not a den tree species) probably age 4.5 weeks. His eyes were open. He couldn't move well. It was 3 PM. It was an area where neighbor's cats sometimes go and where folks walk dogs all the time. I made the decisi...

Re: Play Behavior aggressive at times and confusing

He's 3 months old now and I think if I had not been careful he could have become a biter with me. I think he misinterprets, and is afraid of attack - I resolved things by stopping my hand immediately every time he flipped on his back and seemed to be in a defensive posture. Within a few days to a we...

Re: Play Behavior aggressive at times and confusing

I did realize after posting to stop playing - I just stayed still and he calmed a bit - I'm still not sure if he thought I was the one who had the issues, not him. His play shifted either because of me being more passive, or more likely because he is growing and changing rapidly. His movements are r...

Re: Quiz Time

The whiskers are called "feelers." I googled it - I hope that wasn't cheating.

Play Behavior aggressive at times and confusing

I'm sure if I knew flyers well it would all be obvious. I have a 7 week old male, perhaps slightly older, he has been with me 2 weeks and likes to play, which includes wrestling and chase and tag. At certain times he will approach my finger and initiate wrestling, but then often flips on his back an...

Re: From NYC suburbs

Forgot to mention - I have had him 2 weeks at this writing, so he would be 7 weeks old if my original estimate was correct but the growth spurt has me questioning my original estimate. But if he was older than 5 weeks, he was even weaker than I thought. He very much seemed liked a squirrel that had ...

From NYC suburbs

I lived less than 30 minutes from Times Square IF there were no traffic. Retired middle school teacher. I have experience with orphan animals (mostly grey squirrels and raccoons) as a teen but not flyers. My wife and I live with one old blind cat. I was not looking to adopt and want to find a good h...

Need exercise wheel fast but stealth workshop closed

The workshop is closed for now on account of Hurricane Irma and the squirrel I took in is getting more and more energetic and needs to work off energy. I have a number of questions really but this is the most immediate since my home isn't squirrel safe and trying to keep him entertained and on the c...

Re: My spoiled little Sandy

the little guy I have and am debating what to do with already sleeps like that, usually down in my shirt, but also in my hands - once he is in a deep sleep, he can be petted and kissed, sleeps in all positions (his back, for example, legs up in the air.) He is young, my guess is 7 weeks, his eyes we...

Re: You Were Choosen

beautiful post - that's what my wife claims about the young pup that just entered my life a few weeks ago, and for which I am trying to decide what to do - just wrote a long post and managed to lose it all when I tried to post it....
