Washington To Virginia To New Jersey

I'm going on a roadtrip at the end of February 2011, I'm not sure on the exact route we are taking yet however if anyone needs a brief transportation I would be willing to do it. Just PM me and let me know.

Thank you Judy for your kind words. I didn't know that these little animals buried their way into your heart so far.

This is what I did for him, his picture was done a year ago, the banner was done Saturday night.

Jack died this morning.

Hijack Godzilla is no more. I will not be performing a necropsy on him, however it appeared he had the beginning symptoms of MBD, I did everything in my power for the MBD but it seems I was too late. I know it's bad to blame oneself, but I blame myself entirely, my work pulled me away from him. Last...

I'm going to use this method: 1. Dennis Quinter Method (Dennis is a rehabber/hobby breeder with over 30 years experience: http://www.voy.com/55490/) There are three main causes for Metabolic Bone Disease. Lack of calcium, lack of Vitamin D, and too much Vitamin D. Too much Vitamin D can cause calciu...

Jack, onset of MBD I think.

Unusual gait, inability to climb walls or cage like normal. Sleep, biting, in nest box most of time. Hungry though, and thirsty. Calcium block got wet while cleaning cage so was removed, one dish of water broke and I didn't think about replacing it with another calcium-filled dish. He is very weak a...

Hah. I'm horrible. I tell everyone I'm moving and then I change my mind. I realized that if I want to get any degrees (in college) done, they need to be done now. I don't need to be moving across the country and trying to find a job over there for min. wage. It was totally my boyfriend's idea to mov...

Thank you Judy, I'll see if we have any up here in the Health Food stores or otherwise. I just don't want him freaking.

Also, I saw a Southern Flying Squirrel for the first time in real life, I just have to say: THOSE GUYS ARE TINY. I couldn't get over how small a Southern is next to a Northern.

I'm going to go check out Delight's home/squirrel room tomorrow probably to see if I can leave Jack with her come August/September. I'm still not sure what exactly I'm doing, but it's nice to have an option- and an option where the person knows how to take care of a squirrel and has a good setup for...

Re: Christopher traumatized or MBD?

Make sure you supply both freshwater and water with D3 in it. The little buggers will choose which water source they need. I hope Christopher gets better. When I had to check Jack's teeth back when they were randomly falling out (about a year old) he would act like I was hurting him and scream at me...

Re: Come August

If I take Jack with me it would be via car. It stressed him and me out when we moved across town, so taking him on a long-term road trip to the east coast worries me. I also don't know how a Northern would fare in the summer months in an apartment, I can only make this apartment so cool, so would he...

Come August

I may be moving to the East Coast. New York, Boston, or perhaps Pennsylvania.

My question is such: How do I move to the east coast without making the situation stressful for Jack?

Should I look into giving him to someone else here in WA, or just plan on flying him over?

Any ideas?

My new (kind of ) puppy is a schipperke named Talyn. She is a very 'prey' oriented dog and so I would never let her in the same room as the flyer when Jack was out running around. That's why I put off getting the bird. She or he would of been in my bedroom, with the squirrel, and my boyfriend. My roommate would of yelled at us to shut 'that damn bird' up all the time. Besides, I don't want complaints from the neighbors. So I ended up getting a hamster, but I plan getting a Qu...

Adopted a 'too old' hamster from Petco. She was only 5 bucks. She's a interesting little creature. Haven't named her yet, but Jack doesn't like her at all. He makes 'puff' noises at her, and watches her warily. I'll have to move his cage back against the wall, cause it really bothers him when she go...

Has anyone here had a bird and a squirrel in the same room?

I'm just nervous. I'm used to separating animals. I recently got a schipperke pup that the moment she puts her nose to the air and realizes that Jack is in the room, she's banished from the room.

Does it have to be in a separate room away from Jack?

Jack has free roam at night in the bedroom, so if there was a hamster hanging out in his cage, would it cause problems?

Can they transmit diseases to each other?

I received him from a friend that had a dog that tried to eat him. The rehabbers in the area wouldn't take him. Northerns are harder to find from breeders as pets. Jack is a Northern and I pretty much follow the same diet as a Southern with him. He isn't that much bigger than a Southern, however I would not place the two in the same cage.

Just a darker fur color, and slightly bigger, but that's about it.
