Re: Excersize ?????

When I bought Krikkit's wheel I was thinking I'd just wasted money because he would never run in it either. I started putting treats and cottonballs into it just so he'd climb up there. Then one day, months later, I heard a faint squeaking and opened the door to see a white belly flashing by (he lik...

Re: Crickets

We do have them but I've not seen them yet. Perhaps they are waiting for June. ;) He loved the mosquito hawks. We had tons of them a few weeks ago but now they're few and far between. I'll grab some June bugs for sure when they come out.

Re: Crickets

The local petshop sells them too and if you only have a couple of squirrels the few cents difference doesn't really matter. ;) They are 8-10 cents each at my local petsmart/petco. They also have calcium food you can feed them to make them more nutritious. My frogs eat them but Krikkit won't eat Cric...

Re: A non flying flyer?

Krikkit doesn't glide either. At least I've never seen him do it. He will jump from place to place but doesn't really glide. Then again, he's not had free range of the house yet either. Just his closet ;) Maybe once I get the track put up for him and Penny, there will be gliding going on.

Re: Healthy flyers not using wheel or bottom half of cage

Krikkit uses his wheel which I attached at the top of the cage. I hadn't even thought about where I'd placed it until you said that (other than to be sure it wasn't close enough to anything that he could get wedged). He has his water bowl at the bottom (its a heavy earthenware shallow bowl) so he do...

Re: Squirrel Gliders???

Never heard of them but I did a quick search and found this. The Squirrel Glider (Petaurus norfolcensis) is a gliding mammal of the marsupial family Petauridae. It is one of the wrist-winged gliders of the Petaurus genus. Like most of the wrist-winged gliders, the Squirrel Glider is endemic to Austr...

Run, Krikkit, Run!

I think perhaps I should change his name to Forrest. He's been running in his wheel non-stop for about 3 hours now! When I first bought it he never used it so I would leave small treats and fresh cotton balls in it to tempt him to at least climb up to it. He started using it about 2 weeks ago ish......

Re: Getting rid of house flies

We had that problem because we lived across the road from a cow pasture. They are a much bigger problem in the country, especially if there are livestock in the vicinity. We dealt with them by hanging the fly strips in places that we noticed they hung out. Also, make sure your garbage cans have lids...

Re: A subtle hint

My main thought was for the wildlife (and krikkit, of course) so as long as they are good for them, I don't care if they are small, LOL! I know the big ones are grafted/genetically enhanced but I thought maybe it would still grow something for the furballs ;)

A subtle hint

I keep finding little pecan trees growing all through my front yard. I was trying to figure out how they all got there (there are no other pecan trees in my yard or my neighbors that could have fallen there). Then all of a sudden, it hit me! The squirrels must have put them there last fall and now t...

Krikkit is expanding his horizons

Well, Krikkit has all of a sudden decided he wants to be a daredevil. He has starting leaving his cage and sleeping in random places in his closet. I peek in at him every now and then just to see where he's at. It still makes me a little nervous that he's not in his cage but I'm trying to give him m...
