Re: How much should they eat?

I'm new to the forum, so am not qualified to say much at all. I couldn't do anything with the link Joan posted, & am not sure where to direct you on the forum. I believe I am correct that grapes (fruit in general) should be limited. Greens like Kale, collards, broccoli (my flyer will only eat t...

Re: Can you put a Squirrel and a Sugar Glider together?

AMEN & AMEN Judy!!! Not only does the image memory haunt me, but the smell too! Also, I whole heartedly agree that the pet shop is the lesser of the 2 options for the animals. You are also right that if any profit is realized, its at the expense in one way or another of the poor animals. Kudos ...

Re: Can you put a Squirrel and a Sugar Glider together?

Yes Travis, it is a worthy subject. Around here, the word "mill", when associated with animals, is always a negative term. Actually, I do have a problem with any animal being mass produced for profit, but I realize a lot of people won't agree with me. As to having inferior caging/housing ...

Re: Can you put a Squirrel and a Sugar Glider together?

Yeah, I did a brief search after my last post & did find listings, also noticed some in England. I've got very mixed feelings about marketing wild life, heck even domestic pets. Unfortunately I've seen my share of puppy & kitten mills! :bad-words: I'm grateful that NFSA doesn't sanction bro...

Re: Can you put a Squirrel and a Sugar Glider together?

I've wondered whether or not chipmunks could make decent pets. Have never heard of anyone rescuing them, but would assume its been done. I've thought the likelihood of encountering abandoned pups would be slim since they nest underground. Observing them over the years in our yard, parks, etc., they...

For many years I've believed that humping in animals is as much a dominance activity as sexual/need to breed. Is that not the case with flyers?

My history with "a" flyer is so brief that I'm really not qualified to answer any questions from experience, so I'll simply tell you what I've witnessed from Ziggy over the last few weeks. During the period of time he was on formula I was pee'd/poo'd on fairly often, but I learned to be s...

Well, the barrier extension didn't work, he outwitted it too, just took a little longer. Sooooo, I removed it & its destined for the burn barrel. #-o Next plan is to add a limb as suggested by Gail. He has antlers in his cage & never has chewed them, so I don't think that would work....

Watching him in that wheel is such a HOOT! What amazes me most is that its the spinning that he appears to enjoy the most. He'll run enough to get it going really fast, then latch on for the ride. As soon as it slows enough he runs again to build momentum for another fun ride. Hubby got to see it f...

Cheryl, good cries are healthy, but certainly not fun! As you know, only time will help with that. As to the chewing, if Ziggy chews the narrow molding of the cornice (which he has & will) thats not a big deal to me. That molding can be easily & inexpensively replaced. The hardwood display ...

I knew how clever & inventive greys can be, but I do believe flyers are equally as smart. Not long ago Ziggy discovered a favorite high place in our den. The room has a triple window & a single window. Both have solid wood cornices (no fabric). His cage is in front of the triple window. Onc...

Latex & silicon nipple storage?

I'd like to know if there is a preferred way to store these nipples that could enhance their "shelf life". For those of us who do not seek rehab projects, is it possible for these nipples to remain usable for a couple of years or more?
