HOF Bobbie says that when removing messes (glue, band-aids, ball point pens, magic markers etc.) from flyers, try to think of something that is edible or used in relation to food. Peanut Butter is best, Olive Oil is next on the list to try. A side effect of the flyer eating any of the remover is a ...

Fleas (Here's what you would do for pups): A few drops of tea tree oil in a spray bottle of water and spritz it on them several times. It does not hurt them at all and the fleas and mites HATE it. Sudden Aggressiveness Flyers don't go out of the way to bite someone just to be "mean." There could be several reasons for this happening. The most common cause is an odor. Something on the hand that smells like food. Or it could be an odor the flyer doesn't like. A lot of flyers do not l...

Should I Get a Second Flyer? Here is what Dennis Quinter has learned over the years: 1. Two males may or may not get along. (siblings do better, but two unrelated males can get along) 2. A male and female may not get along. (rare) 3. A male and female does not guarantee there will be babies. 4. Two...

Potty Training

The trick is to recognize when the flyer will usually "have" to go and put them in a specific corner of their cage at that time. You'll find, in most cases, that flyers will pick a specific place in their cage for a latrine. You'll also find most flyers wake up, spend perhaps a half hour or more in ...

Housing for Weanlings and Adults

For housing, the minimum size wire habitat for one Flying Squirrel should be 18" x 18" x 24" tall with a wire spacing maximum of 1/2." Bigger and taller is better. A nest box measuring 5" x 5" x 5" with a removable or hinged top, should be provided to give it a dark place to sleep. A wren box does...
