I asked the same question awhile back when I started offering acorns to our flyers. Should be nothing to worry about, I figure the acorns must contain something that gets passed with the urine chaning the color.

I think Beverly posted this trick once or twice before. Close off each room, leave pecans, water and nuts in a saucer in the center of the room... dust around it with some powder, hopefully he'll leave foot prints so you can narrow down to which room he's hiding in...

Older flyers can still make great additions to the familiy. My first flyer Beacon came to us older as well, and he's turned out great. My flyers LOVE those... Beacon just likes the yogurt coating and will actually 'shave' it off with his teeth leaving a naked cheerio behind. I only give them one or two once or twice a week if they're good.

I like to change the nest box cotton every two weeks or so. Then give the little guys the cotton balls to them one at a time... it's quite a fun way to blow an evening watching squirrels fly over for a cotton ball, scrurry back to the nest box over and over and over...
