Re: Rainbow Bridge

Mari was my first flyer and a little angel - such a beautiful personality - she blessed my life with her company for nine years. When I got her I thought I was going to pick up a rescue sugar glider - boy was I suprised when I got home! She was the one that started it all! Skookum & Stoney were ...

Re: Meet Tino!

He is a VERY sweet little guy - I'm his fourth and LAST home! I take lots of pics so expect to be seeing a lot of this boy! He's the friendliest flyer I have had thus far. He sat in my shirt for hours this morning and is completely human imprinted. I am not sure if he knows he's a squirrel!

Meet Tino!

Last night I recieved another flying squirrel named Valentino (Tino for short.) He is SUCH a sweetie pie!! He's been curled up in my shirt all morning and had a blast playing with me last night after his trip to get here, he wasn't even scared at all of me or his new surroundings. Very curious about...

Re: Outdoor aviaries?

Wow thank you Judy! That was very informative. Right now I have 5 flyers but may be taking in two more in the next week or so. It's been really strange as there never used to be any flyers on the NW coast. My first flyer I ever got was Mari, she passed on this year at a ripe old age of 11, I am sure...

I am curious if the SFS could take the moderately cold weather here in the pacific northwest? It usually only drops below freezing for short periods of time from dec - march. I am getting quite the collection of flyers over here LMAO! I am just trying to figure out a way to give them more room as th...

Re: northern flying squirrels

Awe, that's a bummer. I know a few years back I inquired about purchasing a pair of northerns from him but ended up trading Kanzakitty some sugar gliders for a pair instead. Got a nice pair of northerns but they were really old when they came to me and only lived for a few years, never produced for ...

I just wanted to ad that I am a USDA licensed rescue and educational facility located in Washington state (for those of you who can no longer care for your pet) and I have the ability to take in most exotics all the way up to medium sized exotic cats (serval, lynx, bobcat etc.) I have many large squ...

I would also say to not feed him too much cream - they can't handle the lactose very well, it's difficult for them to digest and can give them the runs which can lead to dehydration. Congrats on your little budy! They are a blast!

Well after doing a bit of research they are mainly sold as pets in Japan, but I have no idea how you would get one out of there with all the enviromental melt down going on over there right now. Its not a place I would like to visit in its current condition. I have contacted a couple importers in th...

If I do find any I will let everyone here know. Idealy I would love to get a couple male/female pairs... Hmmm I wonder if a trip over to Russia is in order? I wonder if anyone in Russie/Siberia or Asia/China keeps them as pets and if it would be possible to go over there and import some. I know S&am...

Siberian flying squirrels

I was curious of anyone in the US owns or breeds siberian flying squirrels for education or zoos. I absolutely love them and I would love to have some to use in outreach but I haven't heard anything about them being kept in the US. :usa

I would say KEEP THE SQUIRREL, while you might not be able to spend as much time with her I think that it will be less stressful for her to stay with you and not get handled AS MUCH then it would be for her to go to a completely different home. I just had a baby last september and I had two flying s...

Well my little girl has kicked my little boy out of the nest box, so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. I did have a question though, if she is preggers should i move her into a seprate cage? The cage I have them in now is large, so they have a lot of room to get away from one another. ...

Re: Flyer with Possible Eye Infection - Vet is Clueless

I had a sugar glider that had an eye that looked like that. It was a tumor behind the eye which caused the eye to buldge and eventually we had to get the eye removed, unfortunately by the time we removed the eye the tumor had grown too large to remove safely and she died while under operation.

Re: I just got my 2 northerns :)

They look like northerns to me, they look very similar to the two northerns I had. The northern's face has a different look to it then southerns, it's hard to put your finger on unless you've owned both for comparison. Not to mention the longer looking fur, my northerns almost always looked like the...

Are you flying or driving to the east coast? If you're driving I would bring jack with you on the trip so she doesn't feel scared and she can be comforted by you while you're traveling. Also I would like to ad on a side note for future baby flyers if you have any! :) Milk products are not good for flyers because flyers like a lot of other animals have a difficult time digesting them and they don't get all the nutrients they need + it can make them sick. There are a lot of formulas ...
