What Types of Branches to Feed?

Postby ssherman » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:03 am

Hello,
I have seen this question asked before on the forums, but I don't think it got a detailed answer. Does anyone know what types of wild branches (leaves, buds) are safe for flying squirrels to eat? The only answer I found on the forum was maple. Does anyone know any other species, such as dogwood, oak, fruit, etc.

Thank you so much for your help!

Maple, oak, all fruit trees, and probably a lot more. Doesnt hurt to try different ones; if they are harmful or unpalatable they just wont chew on them. They tend to like the branches best when the sap is pushing out and the leaves are budding or fresh.

Thank you for the info! That is perfect, since most of the trees around here are doing just that right now.

Thanks!
