Florida HOFs: Here's a website with a memorandum from the Director of the Division of Law Inforcement about the Personal Possession of Class III Wildlife stating that you do NOT need a State permit to keep "squirrels" for personal use (pets).
You might want to print up a copy and keep on hand,

But it does not specifically say flying squirels. I spoke with an inspector and you must have rehab lic to care for sick or injured, or if a pet have proof of aquisition. If you get one that is rehabed but cannot be released from rehab then it's ok.
