I definitely don't feed them in this position - this baby was standing on his back feet with his front paws on the syringe. He got so enthusiastic that he curled his body around the syringe. It was so funny that I stopped pushing the formula out of the syringe and grabbed the camera (it's never far from me!) to get a picture. That's why it's such a poor-quality picture.....one-handed operation!

Leah you can never make a "bad" picture. They are all beautiful. How old it that little one? Also I like the bottle where did you get it? Speaking of pictures do you have a group picture from the Dixon Center of all of us? If you do could you post it on the getting to put a face with the person? Thanks

Thanks, Gail!

This baby was about 7 weeks. The "bottle" is a syringe (3cc) that I use for older babies. The flow rate of a 3cc syringe is way too much for younger babies - I use a 1cc or even a .5cc for them. All the syringes I use come from Chris at http://www.thesquirrelstore.com - she has the best o-ring syringes that never stick and never wear out - and she sells them dirt cheap!

Yep, all my syringes come from http://www.thesquirrelstore.com, but the nipple is made from two different ones so that the size is more appropriate for flying squirrel babies. Chris at the The Squirrel Store can help you with anything you need - she is very helpful and full of good info. If you ever do need to feed a baby flyer, please seek some advice from someone with experience. It is a very touchy thing to feed something so small and they can be aspirated sooooo easily. With tiny ones, it is literally a drop at a time out of the syringe, and NEVER use one of those Pet Nurser bottles - always a syringe where YOU have control over the rate of flow.
