Scalisti Foot Injury

Postby Scalisti » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:32 am

This might be life threatening. Scalisti, my 14 year old male flyer, got some thread tangled on his foot, which I removed. The foot looks swollen and there's lint on it that is hard to remove. The nearest vet that treats flyers is about 45 minutes away from me, and I lack transportation at the moment. I live in the south Dallas area. What should I do? I want to help my little ol' buddy who I had for so long... :(

Andrew, it should heal up fast on it's own. I'd put some antibiotic ointment on it and maybe warm water soaks before to sooth it.

If he allows you to, soak in cold water several times a day. Antibiotic ointment to help prevent infection, can be applied. If the foot is already gangrenous, it won't reverse but it the tissues are still alive, it will get better.

Andrew, use cold as David suggests ... he's the vet.
