Tails

Postby Keg » Fri Jul 17, 2009 3:38 pm

I was just wondering what kinds of tails flyers usually have. A lot of the pictures I've looked at of other peoples' flyers are ones with rounded tails. While this never really occured to me before, MJ has a flat tail end. It looks kind of like a cricket bat. Is this normal?

All flyers have flat tail fur. The tail bone and skin covering it is round

Really? All the pictures in the gallery on this forum show flyers with tails that have points...

You're talking about the tip of the tail?

Yup! The tip of her tail does not have a point. It's shaped like a paddle or something of that sort of shape. From an overhead point of view, of course.

That's quite common.

Oh! Well if you say so. Maybe it's just a genetic trait or something? Kind of like eye color in that of a human?

The shape of the tail fur changes when they molt, and with other events. I have 2 right now with a 'V' at the end of their tail; either from someone nipping at them, or just the beginning of a molt. One has a beautiful, rounded end, and one has a raggedy one. My last girl is growing hers back after a long winter of a ratty looking half-bald tail. So, they are all at different stages and shapes! It does help me tell them apart when dashing around, though! :silly:
