Sami's Heart Shaped Tail Fur

Postby Kevin » Wed Nov 17, 2004 12:53 am

Sasami's tail fur seems to go through constant disapearing / reapearing acts.

I thought this was pretty strange though, it has recently grown (back) in in the shape of a Heart.

Depending on how you see her it's really heart shaped (more so than in the picture even).

Just interesting.

I just love it! That is so funny!

Kevin, tell us about the girls' names - where did they come from and what do they mean?

I bet her sister has something to do with that.

Our eldest squirrel's name was chosen from a Japanese anime character that I used to like..... Sasami - or "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy". Sasami is a cute little girl with enormous blue pigtails. Also a Princess, which seems appropriate....!

When we got our younger squirrel as a companion to Sami, I chose another Japanese name that I liked. Kevin and I love Japan and have been there a few times to visit.

The real reason I liked the anime was that Sasami was friends with a small creature called Ryo-oh-ki, who is a 'cabbit' (a cross between a cat and a rabbit). As a small critter, Ryo-oh-ki is almost as cute as a flying squirrel!

That's the story!

For the first time Nugget has shed his tail fur and it makes him look like a pup...
I'm not sure he will grace me with a fancy design though...

tail fur

Do all flyers shed and re-grow their tail fur? Is Pipsqueak going to have a bald tail some day?

With the way he's constatly grooming himself (he's so vain, he even stares at himself in the mirrior  ) he's going to be devastated!

In the 3 years we had Mr. Whiskers he never lost any of his hair. Not even a molt. Thanks to Joan we have pictures of Chuck in a molting state. I am sure she can give you a place to see the picture. Kevin and Emma I love the heart on your babies tail. So neat. Thanks for the picture.

:o Thanks all, I'll try and get a better picture of her tail tonight.

Sami is just about 5 years old now, and she's had this 'fur issue' off and on most of the time. Joan is prob. right about little Suki having something to do with it! ;)

Suki on the other hand has never (that I can remember) had recurring hair loss... (she's about to turn 4)

Actually, it's Mishi, but neither she nor Chuck have ever lost tail hair like
Sami. Chuck got his tail split once when Mishi got tired of being humped. LOL
