Cypress Knees

Postby adoptaspork » Fri Mar 21, 2014 12:46 pm

Hello everyone! I recently went to Repticon and purchased some driftwood while I was there. They appear to be cypress knees. I was wondering if they are safe to put in Navi, my flyer's cage?

I bet it's beautiful, but aren't cypress knees protected?

"It is illegal to cut the knees on cypress trees growing on state land without a state permit, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The knees are widely used for making tables and lamps. Cypress knees are protected under the wetland preservation laws in Florida. Read more: http://www.ehow.com/facts_8027910_legal ... z2wnpBZbcc "

WOW, all this came about when I was living in Ohio for 30 years. Growing up, knees where sold in roadside stands. I imagine lots of knees are imported now from South America.
