I think Rocket was trying....

Postby pappy1264 » Thu Nov 05, 2009 8:16 am

To mate with Luna last night. First off, when I fed them, he kept chasing her back into her pouch, so I took her pouch out and put her down at her dinner (she is fed on the bottom, him on the top. He doesn't like being on the bottom, so she can eat in peace once she was down there). Then I had to jump up several times because of all the ruckous in their cage. He was trying to climb on top of her but she kept trying to fight him off. She was fine this morning, and they were side by side to get their pecan as usual. I am new to this, so not sure if this was mating (or attempting to) or just playing. Any ideas? I will keep a close eye on them (to make sure she is able to eat if he is not letting her get to her food). This morning, their bowls were pretty clean, seems they ate quite a bit last night. Thanks!

Get used to it ... just wait til it happens in your shirt! It could be mating or domination, but the ruckous is there to stay.

So as long as they aren't hurting each other, don't worry about it????? I'm used to squabbles, my gliders do it all the time, but it is so easy to tell the difference with them between 'hey, get yer foot off me' to 'I'm gonna kill you'......lol What about the eating thing? Is that part of normal behaviours in flyers, too? Thank you!

I don't obviously know because I've never even introduced two flyers together but like Joan said It sounds like the male trying to show dominance over the female, dogs do It, but you knew that. :D
I'm not NUTS I just mimic

Yes, I guess they have to work out the whole 'who is the boss' thing. Thank you!
