One nest box, two adults, two babies

Postby den942 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 10:00 am

Anyone see this happen? This is a first for me in 20+ years. The two babies are
about one week old. One adult is definitely feeding and protecting the babies.
The other adult I could not see if it was male or female because I didn't want
to disrupt things too much...

Dennis, I have heard of other female flyers assisting in co-parenting. Even know of one that "kidnapped" some pups and moved them to her nestbox.

I've had trouble with them stealing babies like you mention but not just constantly residing in the same box or co-parenting..

The co-parenting must be at the odd time when help is needed, but she has no reason to complain about an absent father since she kicked the poor Dude out.
