List of Dangers

Postby Joan » Tue Aug 02, 2005 6:14 pm

Dashboards ... flyers should be contained in an escape proof cage or nestbox when inside a car.

Ceiling fans ... should be off when flyer is loose in a room

Bathrooms ... Toilet seat lids should always be closed as drowning in toilets is the #1 household accident that kills flyers. Some toilet tanks have holes large enough to allow a flyer access at the back of the tank where the top rests

Opened windows ... Close all windows before letting flyers out of cage to play.

Screens ... Flyers can and will chew through fiberglass screens. Open windows should have metal mesh that cannot be popped out.

Holes ... in the walls, behind your Fridge, dishwasher, washer & dryer, under doors and sometimes behind the stove.... flyers will investigate and potentially get lost. Any opening 1/4" or larger will allow an adult flyer to pass through.

Clothes Hamper..... make sure to check all laundry before washing it as flyers may curl up and sleep in clothing. Flyers should NOT be allowed access to the Laundry Room.

Electrical Wires ... Many flyers will chew wires. You can cover them with Split Wire Covers you can get at Home Depot. A number of flyers have been electrocuted by chewing through Christmas lights on trees.

Household Plants ... Many plants are poisonous; so check them out.

Do NOT to use Frontline on flyers ... it can kill them

Aquariums ... make sure it is cover securely over the entire top

Closing Doors ... look carefully when closing a door as a flyer can jump on top before you know it.

Walking across the Floor ... shuffle your feet if you have a floor runner. They can be underfoot before you know it.
