Please don't tell me that those are testicles hanging down in the pic of Chuck at 18 months old. I have read they are the size of pecans but thought that can't be accurate for such a small critter and I was hoping they were referring to pecans out of the shell. No wonder they can't fly with ancors like that hanging from them.

Alvin is much more streamlined and aerodynamic since he had his removed. It is much easier for him to balance without those things bouncing around-

i did read an article recently in Discover suggesting a correlation between testicle size and brain size- the article was about a particular type of bat, but said that testicles and brains require a lot of energy for optimum performance - energy is limited, so nature has made a choice between which animals needed their brains more and which needed their testicles more-( sorry, guys- you were in the big brain room- )

I have not let Alvin read that article- he would be crushed to know that that he started off with balls instead of brain, and now he doesnt even have those-

Yes, that was the fruit bat also known as the fox bat. Found in South America and Mayalsia. They have up to a six foot wing span and have real cute puppy faces unlike the rest of the smush faced bats. I was amazed with their size. I am a caver. We deal a lot with protecting the little brown bat found commonly in the US. They are pretty neat creatures.

Ok, My little Emo buddy was reportedly born on St. Patty's Day, meaning he would be three months next friday, but the person we got him from thought he was a she, now his... "parts" are a little big for a 3 monther, could he just be a little more develeoped or is he older than we've been told? Here are some pics...

Image

Emo is very embarassed and has retreated to my shirt after having his "parts" posted on a website, lol.

My littel one is 11 and a half weeks old. There are no signs of baggage at this point so does that mean a definate female or is it too early to tell?

So I was looking today. Sorry for the obviously wrong terminology, but...the hole is right below the stub. It doesn't seem like there'd be room for baggage. Is this a female?

Look at above pictures. In females, the urethra (for urination) is closer to the anus than in males.

Well in that 3 week old pic of the female, it looks like they are overlapping and in the older female, you can't really see. My squirrel's parts are not overlapping like that, but there really isn't any room between them.

i can't really see any baggage on batman yet... he's ten weeks old. but he has started to hump things occasionally

p.s. chris if you'd like i can try to snap a couple shots of batman's undersides. he's about a week younger than yours so maybe that'd be easier to compare?

hopefully he'll be calm enough a little later (he's up right now) for me to get a picture. i'm worried now though that maybe he was mis-sexed... although sandy didn't seem unsure. it's just he doesn't have any 'jewels' just yet. females don't hump things though... do they? lol

ALL pups hump. It's a form of play and exerting dominance too.

Well, ya could always name it "Robin"..... it is a boy or girl name. hehe

I'm not sure but if we're taking a poll I'm going with a girl or a very under-developed male. hehe

Yeah, looks like a girl to me too! But I'm not sure, your baby might still be a 'he'. So tell your boyfriend not to be too disappointed...yet. lol. But it's hard to believe that Sandy could have mis-sexed him. Well, if Batman does turn out to be a 'she', you could always change the name to "Batgirl" or "Batwoman". Haha

Well, I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so I have been playing with the babies. And maybe this will help some of you out a little.

My babies are 6 1/2 weeks old. From the base of the penis - where it attaches to the body - to the anus is about 1/2". All this litter are boys, so I can't measure a female, but I doubt that there is much more than 1/8" space on them. And let me tell you - I never, in my wildest imagination, thought I would be sitting around at 2:00 AM measuring the private parts of flying squirrels!!!

i was going to ask you soon whether you had figured out the gender yet. my mom's little boy already seems to be...um...coming into himself, i guess you could say, so since your little one is the same age, i think it would be safe to assume that if there are no family jewels, there probably never will be  lol

have you named your little lady yet? if you're still having trouble, you should make a list of a few names and post them on here for US to decide...that way you won't have to! lol

My squirrel springer has not matured yet lol his "man hood/testicles" look like the squirrels in the picture voguemamselle619 has poseted. He is about a year now and i dont know if he a runt or something! The funny thing is i think my female is pregant because she looks like she has a golf ball in her stomach. She is eating and sleeping more but at the same time she is more active than usual. I thought if the males "man hood/testicle " havent dropped then he isnt sexually mature?I guess that notion went out the window because she is definataly pregant! What is wrong withmy male springer?
