Mary, I have a little girl that does that every summer. The first time it happened, I freaked. I changed diet, super cleaned cages and nest boxes, and the works. Just spoke to Billy Dukes at the SC DNR. Flying Squirrels are legal to own in SC but it is not legal to sell them there. YAY! Charlie wants to move to SC after he retires and I have been putting my foot down...NOT unless I can take my fur kids. Double YAY!

Gonna call Alabama next.

http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/codeofalabama/1975/coatoc.htm Here is a link to the Alabama Code and I don't see any rules against private ownership of unprotected wildlife. It might be there and I'm missing it. If anyone contacts the state of AL, have them direct you to where the law is...

Just because animals are separated by nature or prohibited by a more dominant male means that they can't, not that they won't. As far as I know most male creatures will breed any female that will allow it.

The big one if you can. The flyers love the extra room for jumping and doing tricks. It is 12 1/4 inche wide though. So make sure it will fit through the door.

MBD doesn't come on suddenly. I am willing to bet that the little guy somehow hurt himself. Is he going to the bathroom? If it's back is broken, It might not be able to go. Put some white paper towles in the bottom on the cage and you will be able to see if and how much he is going.
