Re: Time to say goodbye

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I haven't entered the messageboard until today. It's too hard to look at the precious little faces of your little ones and my past love. We cry everyday. The veggie/fruit aisle is the supermarket is painful. Evenings are painful as evenings were all ab...

Re: Time to say goodbye

Thank you Joan, thank you for everthing. Rockie and I have been through a lot in our 6 1/2 years together and you were always there to support us. I could not have gotten him well when wes first found him without the you and the information found on the forum. Back in 2002 you and Beverly were instr...

Time to say goodbye

We had to euthanize our little boy today. The details are too painful to go into right now, our emotions are still too raw. It's time for me to say goodbye to the group here. I'll be off the forum until I finish mourning the loss of my Rockie. My husband and I have broken hearts. There's an empty ho...

Good luck with your little one. Have patience and you will be successful. I wish, though, that people would be less anxious to "expect" their flyers to act certain ways or give them trust and friendship quickly. I know they are cute and you want them to want to be with you so you can cuddl...

Re: Is a flyer right for me?

Regarding Martin's Cages. They have my vote. We're on our second one. The first was the one you mentioned...galvanized 48" high. Good cage. The second we had made custom by them to the size we wanted.....60" tall with doors and shelves where we requested them. They were very accomodating. ...

Re: Stealth Wheel for sale-money donation to NFSA

I have a black wheel w/white stand large size Stealth Wheel that I purchased several years ago. Rockie never used it and I'm tired of moving it from place to place in the house so it's for sale and I'd like to donate any money I receive for it to the NFSA. I'll pay the shipping and also enclose a ni...

Re: Pine Nuts in the Shell - has anyone tried these?

Has anyone tried these? Rockie would jump through hoops and glide through rings of fire for them.

There are soft shelled pine nuts and hard shelled pine nuts. The hard ones are really hard and the soft shelled ones are easier to get in to and just as tasty.

Re: Travel cages

Martins Cages will make you any size, shape you want. I had them make a smaller version of his big home cage that we got from Martin's; this way the shelves and door are in the same place and he would feel more at home. It worked out so well that we used it several times when we went on vacation and...

bottom of cage

I also have a Martin's cage and don't like leaving the bottom as just bare wire. I use teeshirts I've accumulated that we no longer want to wear. I actually put two in at a time since Rockie love jumping to the bottom it gives him some cushion. I change the top teeshirt daily and when I have enough ...

Ouuu, that's got to be a lot more traumatic than a quick clip with the trimmers....all that vibrating and sound. Doc Wolfe trimmed Rockie's teeth at least 3X after his illness and another flyer's teeth (from NYC, forgot his name) with the quilluotine (sp?) trimmers. Hmmmm, wonder which way is the mo...

Any Vet Techs/Assistants out there?

What is the name of the instrument used to trim rodent teeth? Where can I get one if I need it? I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

My former vet used a trimmer that was a guilluotine type but it seemed smaller than you would use for trimming nails.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It's the acorns. Unfortunately I have a nose like a bloodhound and I can smell the tanin from the acorns in the urine and it's what makes it strong. Cut out the acorns for a while and you'll notice the difference.
