I'm in the middle of a medical nightmare & I feel Splenda is a big part of the cause. I have 30-40 lbs of water around my abdomen that appeared almost overnight. My doctor has no idea why despite all the testing so far. In addition I have suffered from insomnia, stomach distress & horrible m...

Hard to tell from your pic... could be mouse or rat. Time will tell of course. We had a little mouse in our ofc once. So many of us fed him it got to where he'd eat right at your feet. Then 1 person complained so we had to catch him & let him go. I don't know much about keep wild mice as pets bu...

Frozen Treat

Since having to give up Splenda I've had to look for alternatives for my ocassional sweet tooth. I love yogurt but was choking on the whopping 33 carbs it contains which is over my daily allotment. My husband came home the other night with Edy's Slow Churned frozen yogurt blend. I always knew I kept...

Chippy, I've tried several times to reply to your PM but the system is not cooperating. I've had both an ultrasound & a C-Scan, no tumor. Just 30 to 40 lbs of water sitting around my abdomen. My dr wants me to see a gastro dr next. After that I plan to see a gynecologist. My money's still on men...

No, I was not taking any meds when this started. The only thing I'm taking now is Lasix (water pill) & vitamin supplements for my low carb diet and FINALLY some pain meds for the back spasms I'm getting due to all the extra weight. Took me 6 weeks to pry those out of the doctor.

Overeating can cause diarreah in humans & animals. I only give fruit as a treat maybe once a week. You're better off sticking to veggies. I give those 3x per week along with yogurt or baby food sweet potatos. Also, make sure to provide fresh water daily. Bacteria can get spit back into a water b...

I agree with Joan. If she retains a pup & it dies inside her it will kill her without immediate intervention. Also if her injuries were caused by a cat she will need an antibotic asap. Cat saliva can be deadly to flyers. South Carolina is a flyer friendly state so you don't have to worry about t...

I don't think there's a big health risk involved but you will need to make sure they don't have any contact. Flyers don't like rats & vice versa. I did a little research a while back when I was thinking of getting some. I was deterred by the fact that they urinate on everything in order to mark ...

The green acorns usually turn brown a couple days after falling off the tree. I just rinse mine good in warm water, dry on paper towel & freeze them. Green are ok to eat. Some like them, some don't. I imagine you could use the same procedure with pine cones.

The ongoing costs are minimal.... unless you're an accessory junkie like me, lol. It's the initial cost that's high. A flyer from Helen's will run you $300 with shipping. If they are illegal to keep as pets then I'm guessing they would have a major problem with someone poaching from the wild as well. This is probably a seperate charge with a great BIG fine.

The green acorns will turn brown once they come off the tree. I had a tree full of them at our other house. Bobo loved them so I would cut branches for him. Once I didn't pull the acorns off immediately & in a couple of days they had turned brown & fallen off by themselves.

I agree. If you're gonna breed in captivity then I think you owe that animal a good life. You don't just toss a bear out on the ice & cross your fingers. Particularly when you know the wild bears are fighting for survival. My heart just broke for that bear.

Bobo won't touch a raspberry. Not crazy about strawberries or blackberries either. The only berry he will eat are blueberries & they have to be real fresh. God forbid if I freeze them. Needless to say, we throw away alot of blueberries around here. It's one of the few fresh fruits he'll eat.
