I have observered that the brazils were chosen before the pecans (among many other selections) at my feeder.

The ground squirrels that we have rehabilitated would wrestle you to the ground for a brazil nut. My flyers totally ignore them. Go figure...

Thanks, Joan. He sure can put on a pitiful face when I leave him in his cage in the morning. You would swear I was abandoning him for life.

male companionship?

Chuck & Mishi's boy, Gordon, is doing great. He is much more affectionate that his big brother Flash (who still hasn't returned from teh wild). I never would have thought it could be so, but he's more attached to me than Flash ever was. I took Flash with me everywhere, and Gorden has always gone...

Brother Gordon is not showing any similar symptoms

Anita & Charlie, My heart goes out to you. I can't imagine how hard it must be to see that sweet little girl suffering. She is such a sweetheart!! Brother Gordon has shown no unusual behavior of any kind, but I will probably stay up with him tonight just to make sure. Joan, thanks for letting me...

Cher!! He is sooo cute. We have finally settled on a name: Gordon. I know, I know. I'm hoping that Flash will come home, but the name seems to have stuck. He's a little sweetheart, and he's bonding quickly. He's staying in my shirt during the day, but I put him in a small cage on the front seat when...

It certainly was an awsome conference. I want to thank all of you for welcoming me into the NFSA family and for taking me under your "flap". I learned so much from the conference, and I can't BELIEVE all of the loot that I came home with. Geez!! The best, of course, is our new baby, Gordon...

Flash WILL be attending Well, maybe not... Flash is missing - again. I'm very worried about him, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude since he did manage to find his way back to me before. We went to a movie Monday evening. Flash woke up for piece of popcorn and a piece of ice, but he didn't ...

I feel stupid because I don't know what a "PM" is (it sounds suspiciously close to BM), so I'm posting this info here: HOF Name: Patti Aymond Spouse name if attending: Nelson (& son Jean Pierre) Home state: LA List your fliers: Flyer? What flyer? I'm from LA, so I CLEARLY don't have a ...

I agree. The only decent photos that I have of Flash were taken BEFORE his adoption. At night, he's Mighty Mouse on speed. During the day, he makes a bee line for my shirt.

I have lots of photos with nothing but a big blur. <sigh> That's why we call him "Flash".

Has anyone found the legal definition of a "wild animal"? I'm thinking a critter that sleeps paws up in my shirt would not meet that definition in any state... :dontknow:

I have a couple of questions:

1) What are the hours of the conference? (i.e. do we need to schedule travel the day before and the day after?)

2) Can I bring my flyer?

Sad news - Flash's new bride died suddenly.

Almost at the moment that I submitted the announcement of our new baby, my husband called to say that she had died suddenly. He noticed that her breathing was suddenly short and strained. He happend to be with two vets at the time (Imagine the luck of that!!!), so he pulled her out and let them exam...

potty training issue

O.K. I know this is a weird one...

My problem is that Flash hangs on the side of the cage and pees out of the cage. Yes, it must be a guy thing "How far can I pee..."

I've been putting puppy pads under the cage, but I was wondering if anyone has a better idea for "collecting" his nightly shower.

We built a new house last year. The Insulation contractor that we used treats the insulation with boric acid to control roaches, and we haven't seen the 1st one in the house. I thought that was a pretty nice perk. I remember my mother saying that boric acid is the active ingredient of "Roach Proof"....

Flash free roams in our house until I go to bed, and then I put him in his cage for the night. Well, he's way too loud to be in our house - or even the garage, so his cage stays in the pool house. Last night when I went to put him in his cage, there were 3 cockroaches that scampered out of his cage!...

Call of the wild

I know that I'm a bit late chiming in on this conversation, but I get the eeee from Flash fairly often. He does it when he gets on the highest place around (bookshelf, draperies, etc.), and he's alone. When I come into the room, he gives me the "You disturbed my king-of-the-rock epilog". It actually...

Count me as tentative

It's really hard to commit to something that far in advance, but I sure would like to make it. It will probably be 4 of us: Nelson & me, my son (who will be 10 by then), and Flash (Chuck's oldest boy). We will need either a room or a cabin.

I'm so proud!!!

Flash is still just as handsome. He's getting more comfortable showing himself in public. At first he would just poke his head out of my shirt and look around. Now, he'll perch on my shoulder from time-to-time. He still looks like he's being punished when I put him in his cage at night. We're almost...
