Nest Boxes

Postby cohdee » Sat Sep 15, 2007 8:48 am

Does anyone know where I might be able to find some good nest boxes? I thought about trying to make one myself, but I lack the tools and the skills.

Most pet stores have them in the bird section.

nest boxes

I use kleenex holders from Hobby Lobby. They are unfinished wood, have a slide off bottom, and a flyer sized hole in the top. They are made to hold the small kleenex boxes. Just lay them on their side and you've got a perfectly good nest box. They only cost 2 or 3 dollars, too!

Does any one have any LINKS to a few websites that sell them pre-made?

Thank you,

I shopped at HObby Lobby for the kleenex boxes. They had the long ones but not the square ones.

Ooops! Sorry Patti. That's true; they don't always have them in stock. I look for them whenever I get to a Hobby Lobby, and buy one or two to have on hand. I need to get one now for Heidi who has chewed hers up.

Oh O.K. Marilyn, I'll keep checking back with them. I did go to Michaels and they didn't have anything.

It's so cute......I had an empty cardboard kleenex box like you are talking about and they are in it right now. They won't come out. It won't last long but it serves a purpose before I threw it in the trash.

Thanks for the great tip and info.

I'm sorry to report that Hobby Lobby has discontinued the square tissue boxes. I tried to get one yesterday and asked about them. They didn't even have the birdhouses they used to carry. I guess I'll have to ask my DH to make one for Heidi. He should be able to duplicate the tissue box. They are just the right size and my flyers love them.
