wow, thats really cool!
Ok and by cool I really mean Interesting....I kinda have this thing where I can't seem to get enough of infectious diseases, I fear my summer at the CDC only inflamed this.
In a completely unrelated topic to squirrels but related to west nile, The head of the West nile branch at the CDC, completely by chance, got bit by a mosquito while checking his mail and came down with west nile. ahh the coincidence!
ok, done with trivia for today ^_^

LOL, its was just an internship I had this summer.....ok, by "just and internship" I mean it was my dream come true.
I've been wanting to work there for *ever*
I spent 10 weeks working in a lab on an HIV related project. Let me tell you, it was the *best* 10 weeks of my life :D :D :D

The internet is your best friend then.
If your grades aren't great (and mine weren't) you get rejected from a lot of places, but eventually someone gives you a chance to prove your self.
I'm going to apply to the NIH, and USAMRID for next yr......and well, the chances of that coming to fruition is beyond slim ^_^
But yeah, go for it. I Don't know where u are in your life, but if your College, then Internships is whats going to make you Hire able after school or Grad school worthy if you wanna go that route.
Good luck!

i'm actually a recent graduate trying to figure out her life :?
i'm looking into the healthcare field, but probably more the clinical side. i do find the work of the CDC in terms of disease control very interesting. i'm a microbiology dork, so anything that involves microbes catches my attention :D

Be still my heart. I too am a Microbiology geek. There are still internships for recent grads though, I know ORISE offers them at the NIH and a few other places.

http://see.orau.org/
here is one of them.
If this doesn't work for you, try googling Microbiology internships or fellowships. Often fellowships will be given as a yr off program from school or during the in between time during graduation and grad school.
