Wild Flyer In the House

Postby dl353 » Thu Apr 25, 2013 6:22 pm

How can I get a wild flyer out of my kitchen. I think that my cat caught him and brought him in the kitty door. I leave the kitchen window open at night hoping that the flyer will find his way out, but so far no luck with that. It's been a week. I'm worried about the health of the flyer, so I leave him water and food on top of the fridge where the cat can't reach him. He let's me talk to him, but when I move to guide him to the window, he runs behind the stove. That's as far as I've gotten with him. Any advice?

Set up a small bird cage with a nest box (wren box from Petco) filled with cotton balls. Rig the door open. Put the food and water in here and place on top of the fridge. If you notice the food is being eaten, he's likely in the box. They are nocturnal and sleep all day. Close the door and take the cage outside and open the box and release him.
