NFSA PHOTO CONTEST GUIDELINES
Photo submission is open to NFSA members AND non-members.
Anyone can submit monthly but a maximum of 5 photos can be submitted each month.
Members who submit monthly for an entire year will be eligible to receive a free calendar.
Photos will be accepted on a rolling basis but voting will occur monthly.
Voting is open to all messageboard members.
Photos will be posted anonymously and identified by a title provided by the submitter.
The Photo of the Month will be the entry with the most votes.
In the event of an absence of submissions, photos will be posted by the contest committee for the usual voting procedure.
In the event of an absence of member votes, the winner will be selected by the contest committee.
The winning entry will be printed on a tile and sent to the entrant at no cost. Non-members will have to pay for their winning tile.
The winning entry will also be printed in an annual calendar, produced by NFSA and Café Press.
At the end of the year another vote will be conducted using the 12 Photos of the Month to select an annual winner. The annual winning picture will grace the cover of the calendar and will receive a copy of the calendar for their free of charge.
*By submitting, entrant grants NFSA permission to include winning photos anywhere on the NFSA website and in any NFSA publication.*
CATEGORIES
Currently, there is only one category and photos may be submitted of anything related to flying squirrels and the HOFs who love them.
We’d like to expand the contest and create additional categories but this will be dependant on member involvement. Start submitting your photos of the following subjects and we’ll see if it’s possible to support additional categories.
-Flyers in their habitats (cage or nature)
-Flyers in their human habitats
-Flyers and their people
-Flyer footprints (what they leave behind)
-Photos taken by professional photographers
-Digital Art - For all of the Photoshopaholics out there, submit your digitally manipulated creations and we’ll see what we can do!
HOW TO SUBMIT
Horizontal photos are preferred but verticals will be considered.
Write a photo title in the filename. To maintain anonymity, do not use your name or your flyer’s name in the photo title.
If possible, please send small jpeg files. If you encounter problems emailing your photos because they’re too large, email for assistance.
Photos must be submitted by email to the contest manager. Photos may not be submitted via the NFSA website “Private Message” service.
When sending an email you MUST send the file as an attached file that can be saved.
Email submissions to Sarah at NFSAphotos@yahoo.com
LEGALITIES
Photographers retain full copyright and will receive credit anytime their photo is used on the website and in print.
If photos are taken by a third party, email entry must include the statement, “[name of submitter] has the explicit permission of [name of photographer] to submit the attached photos in the NFSA photo contest.” Written permission will then be required from the photographer for print purposes.
All photos posted on the NFSA website are copyrighted and cannot be reproduced without the permission of NFSA and the photographer.
By submitting, entrant grants NFSA permission to include winning photos anywhere on the NFSA website and in any NFSA publication.
Photos may contain trademarked subjects in their original form (such as a Nike logo on a shoe).
“Digital Art” will be disqualified if modified logos or any copyrighted material (such as cartoon characters) is featured.
Photos may be disqualfied if titles include trademarked names, logos, taglines, etc. (such as “Got Milk?”)
The flyer in the picture does not have to be yours.
If children appear in the photo, a model release may be requested.
