What litter is best for litter boxes?
I have seen a lot of people using litter boxes. I know that cedar and pine and I have heard basically any wood chips were bad. What is the story? What litter is safe/the best to use? Thanks!

I use it to cover the bottom of my cage to absorb whatever is spilled, thrown, etc and cut down on odors. I use Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat.
Newspaper may do just as well if you're a better housekeeper than I am. LOL I shop-vac it all up when it's covered in debris.

Re: What litter is best for litter boxes?
I successfully litter box trained my flying squirrel. Every time I get him out of the cage, I put him in his litter box(just a glad container with cheap clay cat litter in it). He takes like 5 minutes, but he will go number 1 and 2 in the box and hop out when he is done. It saves a lot of mess around the house and on people! However, he will not go to the box on his own. I just have to stick him there periodically like one might take a baby to the bathroom to try to make them go before they are potty trained. To train him to do this, I pretty much treated him like you would a dog or cat. When he went in the wrong place I would show it to him, and then show him his litter box. After a couple weeks he got the idea that the litter box was for doing his business. I did train him when he was really young. As for his cage, I just watch for what corner he seems to like to go in, and stuck a cage litter box in that corner. Anyways, hope this helps!
