I am in the process of making a platform for Chuck & Mishi to run on over the sliding glass doors in my bedroom. I bought a 1/2" X 5' fence picket from Home Depot and stained it "pecan". It's the perfect size to go over the doors. I added a 1" lip along the 5' edge and am in the process of gluing shelf mushrooms along it to add a "in the woods" look. The mushrooms are like these: http://americanmushrooms.com/taxa/Ganod ... tum_03.htm
I'll post a picture when it's finished.

Re: Running Shelf
I can't wait to see. I've been thinking about putting something like this up in my closet. They've claimed it as their own anyway so why not maximize the fun space?

Click on individual pictures for close up. I ended up putting the shelf on top of the cage because it wouldn't fit over the sliding glass door with the mushrooms. I put a plain picket over the door for a board to run on.

Re: Running Shelf
That is just the coolest. Were did you come up with this concept? I love the license plate nest boxes. From the front, they look like Smurf houses. What do the furballs think of your latest work of art? I bet they chew it.

Re: Running Shelf
I have the nestboxes mainly for show, but Mishi did start setting up housekeeping in one ... she was planning on moving the pups out of the cage. I had to put a stop to that.
Deb's father made them for the Mississippi Conference. Everyone got one. It was really great!

Oh gosh, that would have been interesting. At my end, I can just imagine going to put on a pair of boots one day and finding a nest full of flyer babies! I would have liked to watch you trying to stop Mishi from doing anything. Hopefully no blood was spilled.
